 Think yesterday was hot? This afternoon, the mercury will shoot up even higher.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of 35 C this afternoon, with sunny skies. High humidity will make it feel muggy and worse. The Humidex forecast for today is 42.

That's a few degrees warmer than yesterday, which hit a high of 31.3 C at around 5 p.m. yesterday.

Today's high, as hot as it is, won't be quite enough to break a record. Back in 1972 on this day, the temperature hit 36.7 C.

Warm winds from the south will blow in early this afternoon, and the UV Index is expected to hit 7, or high.

If you're aching for relief, tomorrow might be more your style. After an overnight low of 10 C, the Thursday forecast calls for a high ten degrees cooler than today — with the afternoon hitting only 25 C.

That's still above normal for this time of year, and it'll be a brief dip in an otherwise scorching stretch of days.

Friday's forecast is predicted to be 29 C, although an overnight low of 7 C will allow you to open the windows and get some sleep.

For the weekend, the high should be around 30 C both days, with some clouds on Saturday and a 30 per cent chance of showers.

Into next week, Monday and Tuesday are also expected to be hot, with highs in the mid-to-high 20s.

The normal high for this time of year is 21 C.
