Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION
Golf Manitoba championships start Monday
Golf Manitoba Men’s Mid-Amateur and Women’s Amateur championships begin Monday with its first of three rounds at the Meadows at East St. Paul Golf course.
Sixty-one golfers will take the course for the men with the first tee-time beginning at 7 a.m. and the last group scheduled for just after 10 a.m.
Ben Bandura from Selkirk Golf and Country Club will look to successfully defend his title this year after finishing the 2011 edition with an overall four-day score of eight-over 292.
Two other former champions — Garth Collings and Dean Herak — will also look to have their names on this year’s trophy.
A new champion will be crowned this year for the women’s amateur championships as last year’s winner, Southwood’s Jesse Choi, is not penciled in on this year’s draw card. Jenna Roadley from Glendale will be in attendance. The 18-year-old was the runner-up from last year and is coming off a 16-stroke victory at the junior championship this past week.
