A Texas man faces charges after being found with a loaded handgun at the most southwestern border crossing in Manitoba.
Tommy Earl Daves, 57, was arrested on June 21, after border guards at the Lyleton crossing searched his truck and trailer, where they found a loaded 9 mm handgun and two loaded magazines in a duffle bag on the back seat of the truck.
Daves, from Mertzon, Tex., has been released on a recognizance but is expected in Winnipeg court on Aug. 11.
Customs officers in southern Manitoba have siezed seven undeclared firearms so far this year.
