Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION
Highway 21 the second-worst road in the province
Highway 21 in Westman is the second-worst stretch of road in the province, according to a survey conducted by CAA Manitoba.
That road got 184 votes in the online poll, which left it well behind Winnipeg's St. James Street as the province's absolute worst. But it's higher than it used to be.
Also making the list from Westman were various stretches of Highway 10 (especially around Boissevain) and the Trans-Canada Highway.
In Brandon, Victoria Avenue was the worst of the bunch, although it didn't have quite enough votes to make the top 10 list.
CAA Manitoba says they analyzed the data by road, by community and by municipality to present a clear picture to government officials. The full report, which was circulated to more than 100 municipalities earlier this week, includes a full breakdown of where each vote was cast.
While the results are not scientific, CAA Manitoba Public and Government Affairs Manager Liz Peters said the results are important to keep the ongoing infrastructure condition and funding discussion top of mind for everyone — especially government.
"We thank all Manitobans who took part," said Peters. "You’ve helped us spotlight on some of the worst roads in our province."

If the highways department would put all the warning signs on the road surface we would have mostly an orange metal highway.
