Hit-and-run driver kills man on bicycle

RCMP seeking the public’s assistance in locating vehicle

A 19-year-old man on a bicycle was killed early today in Thompson after he was hit by a car which left the scene, Thompson RCMP report.

The RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle, possibly white in colour,  involved in the  fatal hit-and-run.

The cyclist was found laying on Highway 391, just south of the entrance to the Thompson Golf Course, by RCMP and local emergency services who had been called to the scene about 2 a.m.

The man was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. His name will not be released.

The bicyclist had been wearing dark-coloured clothing.

An RCMP Traffic Services Collision Analyst has been called in to examine the scene.
