Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

Hot, stormy week ahead

Brandon is in for a series of hot days, punctuated by late afternoon storms, and today will be a prime example.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of 29 C this afternoon, under mainly sunny skies, with the risk of a thunderstorm late this afternoon or early this evening.

Skies will clear overnight, as temperatures fall to around 14 C, and tomorrow will dawn sunny. Tuesday will be hot again, with a predicted high of 30 C in the afternoon, though there is likely to be some cloud later in the day, and there is a 60 per cent chance of thunderstorms late in the afternoon and into the evening. Winds will also pick up tomorrow, becoming 20 km/h from the northwest late in the evening.

Wednesday will be sunny, with a high of 28 C and a low of 16 C. Thursday will be similar, with a high of 31 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers.

Friday, though, could be a little cooler. At this point, the forecast calls for a high of just 21 C that day, with a 70 per cent chance of showers.

The normal high for this time of year is 27 C; the normal low is 13 C.
