Hot today, bit of a mixed bag for the long weekend

If you're leaving work early to kick off the long weekend, you're in for a great day.

Environment Canada is predicted hot and sunny skies today, with a high of 32 C this afternoon.

A few clouds will appear overnight, but temperatures will stay mild, with a low of 14 C tonight.

Into the weekend proper, a mix of sun and cloud is expected Saturday, with a 40 per cent chance of showers in the morning and early in the afternoon, rising to a 70 per cent chance of showers late Saturday evening, along with the risk of a thunderstorm.

Winds will pick up, too, becoming 30 km/h from the southeast by afternoon. Saturday's high will be pretty high, though, forecast to be 29 C.

Sunday, that 70 per cent chance of showers will continue, along with a mix of sun and cloud, although it'll stay warm, with the high again that day of 29 C.

Labour Day Monday, the holiday, will be a tad cooler, reaching a high of 27 C under a mix of sun and cloud, although the forecast currently doesn't call for any chance of showers.

Cooler temperatures will roll in as folks head back for the first workday of September. At this point, Tuesday looks like it will be just 21 C and cloudy, with a 40 per cent chance of showers.

Wednesday and Thursday could see sunnier skies, with highs around 24 C.

The normal high for this time of year is 21 C, the normal low is 8 C.
