An anonymous donor's big cheque helped the United Way reach their goal in the 2013 campaign.

An anonymous donor has stepped up to the United Way plate in a big way.

A single cheque received in the mail today was a whopping $63,777.77 — the exact amount needed to bring the 2013 campaign to its announced goal of $777,777.77.

Campaign chair Jaime Pugh-Clemmensen says she is still in shock that the campaign goal has now been reached.

"Jaime has been such an amazing chair," said United Way CEO Cynamon Mychasiw. "No one deserves this success more than she and her team. We have always had confidence in the caring, compassionate nature of the people of Brandon. Today’s event has brought tears, laughter, and pure joy to us all."

It was the first official campaign for newly appointed campaign director Janis Evens.

"After the hard work, and heart and soul that Jaime and the team have put into this campaign, I am so glad to see them meet their goal," Evens said.

In a press release, the United Way team said that they hoped their anonymous donor would understand the full impact of their amazing gift

"Not only did you ensure that the valued and much needed work of United Way continues, but you have proven that the faith we have in the people of this city is justified," the message read. "Your generosity will never be forgotten. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you."
