Hydro cuts power Saturday to RMNP townsite for servicing

Manitoba Hydro customers north of Onanole towards Riding Mountain Park will be without power on Saturday, Nov. 17 as the utility completes some major service upgrades in the area.

Approximately 465 customers will have their power shut off for six to eight hours commencing at 9 a.m., as Manitoba Hydro construction crews install and energize a new underground feeder line to serve the area, the company stated in a release Thursday.

Specific areas that will be affected by this outage include: Meadowgreen Estates; Mountain Estates; Deer Road; Grey Owl; North Shore cabins; Tawapit Drive; Wasagaming Drive; and Spruce Crescent.

Customers in the town of Onanole itself will not be affected.

The change will eliminate some remote, hard-to-access overhead wires, resulting in more reliable and efficient electrical service over the long-term.

The work is being performed at this time of year to minimize impacts on the many cottages located throughout the area.

For additional information on how to prepare for a power outage, customers can visit Manitoba Hydro’s website.
