Thinking about running for city council in the fall?
The city is teaming up with elections officials to offer an information session for would-be candidates that will outline the role of a councillor and the process of registering to run.
That session is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, beginning at 7 p.m., in the main foyer of Brandon City Hall. It open to the general public and refreshments will be provided.
A "Day in the Life of an Elected Official" presentation will also be provided by former councillor Garth Rice, followed by a question and answer session.
The registration period for councillor candidates officially begins on June 30, while the registration period for Mayoral candidates began May 1.
The Office of the Senior Elections Official is also reaching out to potential Brandon voters who are currently not on the voters list.
Even people who have been on the list in the past, if they rent or have changed addresses, should call 204-729-2210 to ensure their name is on the list for the fall municipal election. People who are new to Brandon should also call. Revisions to the list can be made until Sept. 16.
The election will be held Oct. 22.
