Len Isleifson will step away from municipal politics and set his sights on a higher plane.
In a press conference held this afternoon at City Hall, Isleifson announed that he will seek the Progressive Conservative nomination in the provincial riding of Brandon East.
That riding, currently held by NDP MLA Drew Caldwell, encompasses Isliefson's Riverview riding, where Isleifson won a single-vote victory over incumbent councillor Errol Black in the 2010 election.
The announcement ends rumours that Isleifson would run for mayor.
Isleifson, who also works for Prairie Mountain Health, had previously — and briefly — sought the Conservative nomination for Brandon–Souris.
Earlier this year, Vanessa Hamilton announced that she would seek the Riverview seat.
