Local coach making Super Bowl debut

Jason George was also a strength and conditioning coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2009-11.

A former Winnipeg man is going to be right in the middle of the action on Super Bowl Sunday.

Jason George, a former player with the St. Vital Mustangs, will be sporting the orange of the Denver Broncos when the AFC Champions take on the NFC Champion Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey Sunday evening.

George is an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Broncos.

The 45-year-old was also a former coach of the St. Paul’s Crusaders high school football team from 1992-96, before moving on to the United States to pursue his gridiron training career.

Former Winnipeg Blue Bombers punter Jon Ryan will also be involved in the grand spectacle that is the Super Bowl. Ryan, who was born in Regina and played for the Bombers in 2004-05, is handling the punting duties for the Seahawks.
