Lotto winner picks up her cheque

A local lottery winner now has the cheque in hand.

Shilo's Karen Goodfellow, who found out she won $250,000 during a Lotto Max draw earlier this month, has officially been awarded the money.

when Goodfellow first checked the ticket, she said she was just hoping to win $5, enough to buy a ticket for the next draw. Now, though, she's thinking about a whole new kind of ticket — an airline ticket to Las Vegas.

Goodfellow bought her ticket from Canex store in Shilo, and she checked it the day after the draw at the south-end Sobeys in Brandon.

"My eyes went watery when I saw all the zeros," she said. "I was so stunned! My daughter and I were jumping up and down, screaming, in the store."

Goodfellow said she plans to take some time to think about what to do with her windfall, but there’s one thing she’s planning for already. "I have a Vegas trip planned," she said. "Now I don’t have to save for it anymore."
