Tory MLA Ron Schuler has been chosen to join other Canadians as an election observer in Ukraine, and will head overseas this coming Sunday.
Canada is sending up to 500 people to monitor the presidential election, scheduled for May 25.
"I am proud to be chosen for deployment in Ukraine as an Election Observer. This is an overwhelming opportunity to represent what our great nation stands for; freedom, democracy and the rule of law. I hope to ensure that the Ukrainian people have their voice heard as they fight for democracy," Schuler said. "It's a big step for the Manitoba Ukrainian community and shows just how far our voices can reach. We can, and we will make a difference."
