The car, a 2008 Pontiac G6, was reported stolen from Baker Bay, in the the east end of Brandon, on Nov. 6. Police recovered it later that night, abandoned in the 5000-block of Patricia Avenue, where it had been rolled and extensively damaged.

At the time, they said they had found a 19-year-old man in the passenger seat, injured. He was taken to hospital. The alleged driver was said to have fled, and although police brought out dogs to try to track him, the dogs lost his scent in a residential area in the west end of the city.
