Officers with the Brandon RCMP are among a team of Mounties who investigated a possible murder attempt in Duck Bay, about 130 km north of Dauphin.
A 43-year-old man was shot several times on Nov. 10, while standing outside his home in Duck Bay. Police say he was taken to hospital in Dauphin for medical treatment, but that his injuries were not life-threatening.
A suspect was located and arrested a few hours later and has been charged with attempted murder as well as a number of firearm-related offences. He was remanded in custody on Nov. 11, and was to appear in Dauphin court today.
He has been identified as Wilson Parenteau Jr., a 24-year-old man from Duck Bay,
Winnipegosis RCMP were assisted by the Dauphin RCMP Major Crimes Unit, the Brandon RCMP Forensic Identification Unit, and the Winnipeg RCMP Serious Crime Unit. Officers from the Dauphin and Swan River RCMP detachments also assisted.
Police say they are continuing to investigate.
