Mask-wearing trio sought in home invasion
Three people apparently burst into a Brandon home, held the occupants at bay with improvised weapons, and stole property from them early this morning.
Police were called to a home in the 1000-block of Lorne Avenue just past 3 a.m. this morning.
The caller said that a trio of mask-wearing suspects, all wearing dark clothing, had broken a window and forced open a door to get inside the home. Armed with a bat, a wrench and a golf club, the bandits demanded money from the occupants, then stole some property and loaded it into a vehicle at the rear of the home before fleeing from the area.
One of the occupants was allegedly assaulted, but declined medical attention, police said. They continue to investigate.

Great! (Not)
City of Brandon, PLEASE look into the cost of purchasing and placing/positioning street cameras strategically across our city!
I think that we NEED these now in order to assist and help the BCP and the RCMP `catch their man.`
This is just RIDICULOUS that people now have to worry about being VIOLATED within their own homes by these opportunists.
Also, I think that we should all have a baseball bat and/or a hockey stick in each room of our home so that we are not so VULNERABLE and DEFENCELESS to protect ourselves against any of these very unexpected, unforseen intruders.
A fireman here within Brandon gave me that idea.
I was also told by a member of the BCP that you CANNOT be charged for defending and protecting yourself against an intruder who illegally enters your own home.
