Police charged a 16-year-old male found in possession of a stolen vehicle Friday night.

The Minnedosa youth was driving when he failed to pull over at a police check stop at 18th Street and McGregor Avenue near 10:30 p.m. Friday. Police ran the license plate to identify the vehicle as stolen.

Police caught up to the vehicle after crossing the Daly Bridge. The driver and female passenger were apprehended after a short foot chase.

The driver was charged with flight from police and possession of property obtained by crime. He has since been released from custody to appear in court July 15. No charges have been filed against the passenger.

The white Chevrolet S10 pickup had been reported stolen Thursday from the 700-block of 15th Street.

So, the female passenger "...fled from police..." but was not charged after she was caught. Why not? Oh, so riding in a stolen vehicle and then running away from police isn't really a crime...
