Brandon Sun - ONLINE EDITION

Month marches in — but like a lion? Or a lamb?

It was a cold start to March, with a -22 C morning punishing drivers who thought yesterday's slush meant they didn't have to plug in their vehicles.

But mild afternoon highs are in the forecast for the next few days. So does that mean March is coming in like a cold, cold lion? Or a nice, warm lamb?

Perhaps the end of the month will be less equivocal.

But for now, Environment Canada is calling for a pretty nice Friday and a mild weekend.

Sunny skies today will make a high of -6 C feel warmer than that. Clouds and a low of -13 C are forecast for this evening.

The weekend will dawn cloudy on Saturday morning, but there's likely to be some sun by noon, as the mercury climbs to a high of 0 C that afternoon.

Sunday will be cloudy again, with a good chance of some flurries, and a high of -3 C.

Then, it'll be back to the workweek trudging through fresh-fallen snow on Monday. Although forecast amounts vary, Environment Canada is calling for about 5 cm overnight Sunday and into Monday. Temperatures should reach a high of -6 C on Monday.

Tuesday and Wendesday should be sunny, with highs of about -7 C both days.

Thursday, if the forecast holds, will see a mix of sun and cloud, with a small chance of flurries and a high of -5 C.

The normal high for this time of year is -4 C. The normal low is -14 C.
