Steam from the chimneys of businesses and homes adjacent to the North Hill is illuminated by the rising sun on a cold Tuesday morning.

Most days, it's warmer by midafternoon, but not today. Environment Canada is predicting for the temperature to drop steadily throughout the day, heading to -18 C this afternoon and then -19 C overnight.

There's a 40 per cent chance of flurries this morning under cloudy skies, although that should clear up late this evening. Some winds, around 15 km/h will take the wind chill tonight to about -30.

Thursday will dawn sunny, but cloudiness is expected late in the afternoon, with a temperature of about -16 C.

Friday will see more clouds, with a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high of -13 C.

Clouds and a good chance of flurries are expected all weekend, too, with a highs of about -20 C both days and a little cooler overnight.

Sun shoudl return early next week, although temperatures will stay cool.

The normal high for this time of year is -12 C; the normal low is -22 C.
