Malathion will fill the air in south half of Brandon tonight, as city fogging trucks make their second round in the battle against nuisance mosquitoes.
After an updated count done today verified that the city's trap-count average was more than 1,000, the city confirmed its plans to move ahead with the second round of fogging.
Initial mosquito fogging was done last week. The city is covered in two halves, north of Victoria and south of Victoria.
This week, the city will fog the south half of Brandon first. That will be done tonight. The north half of Brandon will be done Thursday night.
Residents who are opposed to being fogged with malathion can apply for a 90-metre buffer zone around their homes, upon presenting proof of residency. Buffer zones have to be re-registered every year; applications are accepted up to 7 p.m. the evening that spraying is done.
