Brandon Police Service officers walk past a wrecked motorcycle on First Street North just south of the Trans-Canada Highway at the scene of a collision involving the bike and another vehicle on Thursday afternoon.

The driver of a pickup truck will face charges after it's alleged he pulled a U-turn in front of a motorcycle yesterday, causing a crash that sent the motorcyclist to hospital.

Police say it happened just before 2:15 p.m. in the 1800-block of First Street North. The pickup and the motorcycle were apparently both headed south on First Street, with the pickup ahead of the motorcycle.

Then, police say, the driver of the pickup apparently pulled over onto the shoulder of the road and pulled a U-turn, cutting off the motorcycle, which was in the median lane.

The motorcycle crashed into the driver's side of the pickup truck, throwing the male rider onto the pavement.

The 32-year-old motorcyclists was taken to hospital with what were described as serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Charges are pending against the male driver of the pickup.
