Mount Royal musicians can qualify for advanced placement at BU

A new agreement between Brandon University and Mont Royal University will pave the way for easier advanced placement here.

The agreement means that musicians with a performance diploma from Mount Royal will be able to audition for entrance directly into the third year of a Brandon University Bachelor of Music degree in either the honours or performance major program.

"When universities partner for the benefit of students, both institutions benefit," said Dr. Deborah Poff, BU’s president and vice-chancellor.

"This collaborative venture will be of great and mutual benefit to both our music programs," said Dr. Michael Kim, the dean of BU's School of Music. "We look forward to welcoming the very talented young musicians from this program in the near future."

This new agreement is similar to agreements that Mount Royal, based in Calgary, has with other Albertan universities.
