Police have arrested and charged a 31-year-old man from Neepawa after he allegedly forged himself a cheque.
The cheque had been stolen from a house where the suspect's friend was house-sitting, while the victim was out of the country for several months during the winter.
Police say their investigation shows that the man stole a cheque, filled it out to himself and then presented it to a bank.
The suspect is to appear in Brandon court on June 26, where he'll face charges of fraud under $5,000, theft under $5,000 and forgery.
