New friend may have taken car

It's an age-old story: Boy meets girl, girl steals car.

That's what a Brandon man believes may have happened over the weekend. Police say they were called at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning by a resident of the 500-block of 14th Street. He was reporting the theft of his car — a white 1998 Olsmobile Intrigue, bearing Manitoba license plate GGB 576.

Although police continue to investigate, they say the vehicle may have been taken by a female acquaintance of the caller, whom he had met just the evening before.
