Nine arrested after gunpoint robbery in Dauphin

Nine people have been arrested and police are still sorting out charges after a robbery at gunpoint in Dauphin.

Police say that they were called to a Main Street hotel in that city shortly after 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. A group of people — at least one carrying a firearm — had entered the hotel, assulted an employee, and then stolen a quantity of cash and liquor.

The employee was not seriously hurt during the robbery.

Culprits didn't get far. Police were able to track them to a home on Fifth Avenue SW in Dauphin before 11 p.m., where they arrested nine people in connection with the robbery.

Officers from the Dauphin Municipal RCMP also seized a sawed-off shotgun as well as a quantity and cash and beer.

Charges haven't yet been laid, as the investigation continues. Investigators from the Dauphin Forensic Identification Services, Dauphin Major Crime Unit are assisting in the investigation.
