No flood worries yet in Brandon

The city is keeping a watchful eye on the rising Assiniboine River, but says that there is no threat of widespread flooding at this time.

With a river level measured Monday at 1,169.88 feet above sea level, there may be some water in low-lying park areas, but it's not considered an official flood unless the river gets above 1,172 feet.

And even that is a level that the city has handled easily numerous times in the past.

Brandon's response team also continues to monitor the daily provincial flood outlook daily and says they are aware of the potential for ice damming, with plans and access to equipment to respond to any developing threats.

As always at this time of year, the city is also cautioning the general public to be watchful of local waterways during this period of melting, to stay away from ice and water, and to avoid driving or walking through fast moving water.
