A Shilo soldier has pleaded guilty to manslaughter, more than two years after the death of Duane Lacquette.

Jason John Ouimet appeared in Brandon court this morning to make the plea. He had previously been charged with second-degree murder in the case.

The body of 21-year-old Lacquette was found in his Centennial Boulevard home on Jan. 16, 2010. An autopsy determined he'd died from blunt force trauma.

Ouimet was first arrested on Feb. 4, 2010, and was subsequently granted bail.

After his guilty plea today, he was again released on bail to await sentencing in June.
