A 90-year-old Brandon senior received a phone call from a male saying he was her grandson. He claimed to have been in an accident and needed money. Over the course of several days the senior wired $16,000.
Brandon police remind the public not to send money based on a phone call. This is an easy way to become a victim of fraud. Check with close family members or friends before deciding to send anyone money.
