Pipestone pays the people
The United Church in Pipestone was built in 1883. The RM of Pipestone says $500 grant to be received by every resident could be used to support halls, churches, cemeteries, clubs, recreation facilities, daycare, and the community foundation or to contribute to infrastructure upgrades such as the water pipeline or paving.
It sure pays — literally — to live in the R.M. of Pipestone.
The RM of Pipestone Community Development Corporation has announced that for a second consecutive year, a $500 grant will be given per dwelling or unit within a rental dwelling to residents, either ratepayers or tenants, who have maintained residency in the R.M. of Pipestone from Dec. 1, 2011 to Oct. 31, 2012.
The R.M. of Pipestone Community Development Corporation asks recipients of this grant to consider using these funds in their area to benefit their community.
"This is an excellent opportunity for citizens of the R.M. of Pipestone to take ownership by supporting the amenities that mold the area," economic development officer Tanis Chalmers said in a release Thursday.
These funds could be used to support halls, churches, cemeteries, clubs, recreation facilities, daycare, and the community foundation or to contribute to infrastructure upgrades such as the water pipeline or paving.
To apply, one application form per dwelling or rental unit must be completed by Dec. 12.
Proof of residency is required from the property owner of the residence by submitting utility bills or other evidence stating proof of residency or a signed "Statement of Residency" from the registered property owner if the resident is not the property owner of the residence.
To be eligible for this grant, current year’s taxes and debts to the RM of Pipestone must be paid.
Approval of grants is at the discretion of the Community Development Corporation.
Property owners can expect an application form in their post office box by mid-November or a form can be found online at: rmofpipestone.com.
The Community Development Corporation is advising property owners to contact their tenant/s to inform them of this program as notices are only being mailed to property owners in the RM of Pipestone.
For more information about this program, please contact the RM of Pipestone office: 204-877-3327.
