Brandon police had a busy weekend.
They say that between Friday morning and Monday morning, they received about 340 calls that required some level of police involvement. That included calls for service from the public as well as self-initiated calls like traffic stops, pedestrian checks and helping other agencies.
In that same three-day period, 16 people were held at the Brandon Correctional Center under a variety of different statutes. Ten of those have since been released while six have had to appear in court.
During the day on Sunday, police also made a concerted effort to locate several runaways. Of the seven they were looking for, officers were able to close five cases, while two youths are still considered to be runaway from foster or group homes and are being sought.
Police also responded to two requests for assistance to the hospital. From one of those calls, on Sunday afternoon, a 34-year-old man was held at Brandon Correctional Center to prevent a further breach of the peace.
