Brandon police made a few trips downtown to deal with drunks causing issues on Tuesday evening.
They say they arrested a 22-year-old man who was highly intoxicated and carrying a baseball bat downtown. That was just after 9 p.m. He was held overnight to prevent a breach of the peace.
Only a half-hour later, police say a 51-year-old woman was found lying in the street in the 900-block of Rosser Avenue. She was too drunk to care for herself, they say, and was jailed overnight for her own safety.
Another highly intoxicated woman, this one 24 years old, was also taken to the drunk tank after she was causing problems at a bar in the same area.
Nearby, but not quite downtown, police also arrested a 21-year-old woman who was also highly intoxicated in the zero-hundred block of 13th Street North, after she was reported to be causing issues at a home there. She, too, spent the night in jail.
Other minor arrests reported by the police on Wednesday morning, from the previous 24 hours, included three people who were reported to be in crisis and who needed to be taken into custory under the Mental Health Act. They were all taken in for care.
Police also briefly detained the owner of a downtown business who was upset at a Manitoba Health officer.
