Police deal with vehicle fires

Brandon police dealt with two vehicles on fire on Friday.

At about 10 a.m., police were called to the 400-block of 14th Street after a 2004 GMC Savanna was reported on fire. Brandon Fire and Emergency Services attended and put out the fire, which is believed to be accidental. The fire is believed to be caused by equipment which was stored in the van that is owned by a local business.

At about 10 p.m., police were called to a field south of Richmond Avenue near 17th Street East. Police found a 2001 Chev Cavalier on fire. It is believed the vehicle was driven into the field where it became stuck and the fire is believed to be a result of efforts to get the vehicle out.

Police continue to investigate.
