Police are issuing a caution to the public after an interaction with a stranger left a nine-year-old girl scared.

The girl was in a business in the 1400-block of First Street North at about 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, police say, when a man reportedly motioned for her to come over towards him.

He never made actual contact with the girl, and his intentions are unknown, but the girl was scared enough to run to her grandmother.

The man, who was described only as having a slight build, was seen leaving the area in a blue Ford Ranger pickup. Police say they are only releasing the information in case there are future problems with the man or that vehicle.
