Police looking for man who assaulted woman

A man is likely to face charges after police allege he burst into a woman's apartment and assaulted her.

Officers were called to a disturbance on Cornell Bay at about a quarter to 7 p.m. on Monday.

They say that a woman had been assaulted by a man, whom she knew, after an argument. He allegedly entered her home uninvited, threatened her, and proceeded to choke her, then hit her in the upper body with the remote control unit of a toy car.

The victim didn't require any medical attention, and the suspect had fled before police arrived. He hasn't yet been found.

An arrest warrant has been requested for a 25-year-old Brandon man, on charges of assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, choking to overcome resistance and being unlawfully in a dwelling.
