Brandon police are asking for public help as they continue to investigate a very serious assault earlier this week.

A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital — first in Brandon, then transferred to Winnipeg — after an attack at around 4:15 a.m. on Thursday morning. He was found in an apartment in the 500-block of Louise Avenue with multiple injuries to his upper and lower body.

Police haven't specified the extent of his injuries but they are considered serious, although not life-threatening. They were caused by some kind of edged weapon; police haven't specified the type.

They now say that the attack probably happened in the 400-block laneway, between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

The Brandon Police Service is asking for anyone with any information on this assault to please contact them at 204-729-2345.
