After investigating a break-in earlier this month, police managed to track down and recover about $100,000 worth of stolen property.
They say that a Manitoba Hydro compound in the 2500-block of Victoria Avenue East was broken into overnight on Feb. 15, and was reported to them the next day. Stolen from inside was a Kubota skid steer and possibly copper cable.
Following some detective work, police found the stolen skid steer hidden under a tarp at a home in the 300-block of Dennis Street. After getting a search warrant, officers recovered the skid steer and also found some tools and a quantity of copper wire that was the property of Manitoba Hydro.
They estimate that the total value of the stolen property was about $100,000.
A 31-year-old Brandon man was arrested at the home, and has been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.
Police continue to investigate and say further charges may be pending.
