More than half a kilogram of marijuana was uncovered stashed in some bushes late Wednesday night, by police who were investigating some suspicious behaviour.
A tip came in at about 11:20 p.m. that two men were acting suspiciously with flashlights in the 1200-block of Lorne Avenue East. Officers who went to the scene spotted a man coming out of some bushes — a subsequent search turned up the drugs.
In total, police seized about 560 grams of marijuana — about a pound and a quarter — in a number of packages that were inside a box. They estimate the drugs would be worth about $5,600.
They also found other items on the suspect that they say are consistent with marijuana trafficking, including $300 in cash.
The 28-year-old man was arrested and later released with a number of conditions to appear in Brandon court on Sept. 11. He'll face charges of possession for the purposes of trafficking as well as for possessing the proceeds of crime.
