Provincial authorities have seized 10 horses from the RM of Lakeview, northwest of Gladstone, saying that there were concerns about the health, care and well-being of the animals. They were seized on Jan. 14, under the Animal Care Act, and are now under the care of the chief veterinary officer.
The owners now have seven days (until Monday, Jan. 21) to object, which will mean the horses cannot be sold or given away until any appeal is decided.
Anyone who suspects any animal is lacking adequate food, water, shelter or medical attention, is encouraged to confidentially contact the Animal Care Line at 204-945-8000. All calls are investigated.
