Rain takes toll on Earth Day celebration plans

Due to the impending wet weather forecast for this weekend, the city has decided that Brandon’s Earth Day celebration will be moved indoors for Sunday afternoon.

The original plans called for an event at Princess Park downtown, and moving the celebrations indoors — to the foyer of City Hall — means that the children's bouncy castle will have to be cancelled.

However, the city says all other scheduled activities will go on as planned, including the bus tour to the Eastview Landfill and the free vehicle "eco checks", which will be staged in the parking lot at City Hall.

Full details on the day’s activities, which will run from noon until 4 p.m. on Sunday, can be found on the city's website.
