Some Carberry residents were planning to take the law into their own hands after police said an 11-year-old girl was grabbed from behind by a stranger, according to an RCMP release.
However, Carberry RCMP said the report was false and never happend.
The now-false report said The girl was outdoors, near Main Street in Carberry on Thursday at around 8 a.m., training for a race, when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male. She managed to free herself and escaped unharmed.
As a result of claims, RCMP say they received a number of reports of vigilante action being planned towards the individual perceived as being responsible for the unfounded matter.
RCMP is reminding the public is reminded that anyone who decides to take the law into their own hands will be investigated and face all applicable charges.
