RESTON — Some residents in the RM of Pipestone woke up to a wet nightmare after the skies opened up and dumped between six and eight inches of rain in just a few hours last night.
Two thirds of homes in Reston were affected by what some say is the worst flooding the town has seen in recent memory, and at least six homes were asked to evacuate.
According to Reeve Ross Tycoles, the flooding happened is because the town's drainage system couldn't handle shear amount of rain water in such a short period of time.
As many pumped out water from basements and saving personal belongings from backed up sewage water, clouds still hung in the sky threatening more rain.
The municipality declared a state of emergency with pockets of flooding affecting other areas in the RM.
