A man armed with a baseball bat struck out when he tried to rob a 7-Eleven early Sunday morning.
Police say the man, described as white, clean-shaven and in his 30s, was wearing a light grey hoody and ball cap when he entered the 34th Street and Victoria Avenue store just after dawn.
He first went to the washroom, then made a small purchase, after which he drew the baseball bat and demanded money.
The clerk on duty activated the store's alarm and, after a brief interaction, the suspect fled the store. He was last seen running northward on 34th Street.
Police say that their investigation is continuing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
