Arnold Schwarznegger is heading to Winnipeg to speak following an earlier engagement at Calgary's Telus Convention Centre.
Governator, Terminator and all-around megastar Arnold Schwarzenegger has landed at the Fairmont.
Schwarzenegger, in town to speak at a sold-out dinner, made a brisk entrance after pulling up to the Lombard Avenue hotel in a white Hummer at about 6 p.m.
Wearing a dark coat and a deep red scarf, Schwarzenegger quickly said "hi" to the throngs of fans and dinner attendees before sweeping through the lobby, surrounded by security.
Before taking the podium tonight, Schwarzenegger held a meet and greet with invited VIPs, including chiefs from southern Manitoba First Nations.

So why was he here???? To pick up a shovel and help out? To visit the folks at Siloam and hand out some warm clothing? To stop at some of the animal shelters; walk a penned up pup or poop-scoop?
Seriously get over yourself Arnie!
And you folks do know that "sold out" doesn't necessarily mean "we all missed out on something spectacular"....because these so called "celebrities" do have a slush fund to scoop up their own tickets when tickets aren't selling so they don't land here with egg on their face......hey.....maybe that's why he was here???

@Gina7: "But, WHY is he here?
That seems like something a newspaper reporter ought to include in an article......"
This has already been reported in previous articles, he was invited to speak here by a prominent local business person who arranged the whole thing and contacted his list of friends, associates and political contacts to help raise the appearance fee that Schwarznegger charges.

His movies were fluff and his term as governor isn't exactly stellar but I have to give the guy props for how far he came. He was a bodybuilder who could barely speak English but somehow, he parlayed his limited talents into an 'acting' career, made a ton of money, married a Kennedy, and became governor of the most populous state in America. The real dupes are the people who paid to see his movies and the people who voted him into office. For a guy with limited scope, he did very well.
Would I pay to hear him speak? No. I never even paid to see his movies although I did watch one of them at a friend's place, once. I forget the title of it but I do remember a young Sharon Stone in the movie - that was worth watching.

I can't imagine why he'd be touring - money and status I suppose. He's an old movie star, who has had plastic surgery. His time in office saw the state of California slide into bankruptcy.

Bomber executives are attending? Not sure what lessons can be learned.
An actor that pretended to know about running a state, but after getting the job, achieved little. At least there was a term limit.
Unfortunately there are no term limits on the long time Bomber executives who after a decade or so of trying, keep on losing.

He wasn't run out of California - they have term limits there (something our city hall should look at)
Yeah he did "wonders" to the California economy but it was not in any great shape before he took office....he didn't run it down, it was already down and it kept sliding with him there
