Seven Manitoban athletes have made the cut to represent Canada in Scotland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games later this month.

Cyclist Leah Kirchmann, shooter Monica Fyfe, weightlifter Marie Josee Ares Pilon, triathlete Sarah Anne Brault, track and field athlete Nicole Sifuentes, gymnast Isabela Onyshko and skeet shooter Jonathan Weselake will all join Team Canada for the Games, which run from July 23 to August 4 in Glasgow, Scotland.

"It is always a proud moment for an athlete when they get named to represent Canada at a major Games," Canada Sport Centre Manitoba director Jeff Powell said, in a statement. "I am particularly excited that Manitoba again finds itself overrepresented on Canada’s 2014 Commonwealth Games Team. It is a testament to the incredible work of the athletes and the support teams they have put in place around them."
