Shots fired after vehicle crash in RM of Miniota

Guns and ammunition have been seized by police after shots were fired in the RM of Miniota.

Police say that they believe an impaired driver was involved in a vehicle crash on Monday at about :30 p.m. Afterwards, however, there was reportedly some sort of dispute, where gun shots were heard and threats to kill were made.

Officers from the RCMP Shoal Lake detachemnt went to a farm yard in the RM of Miniota, where they seized a number of firearms as well as ammunition.

Ronald Chartier, 52, of the RM of Miniota was arrested and has since been charged with several firearms related offences, uttering threats, assault with weapon,  dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and mischief under $5,000.
