Showers and cooler before late-weekend heat

Clouds this morning will drizzle a little rain mid-day, and the long weekend will start out cool, but it promises to end blazing hot.

Environment Canada says that showers beginning this morning will continue off and on until late this afternoon, with westerly wind between 20–30 km/h and a temperature that will barely poke up into the 20s. Today's afternoon high will be a below-seasonal 21 C.

Overnight, Brandon could hit a low of 14 C, with more showers after midnight, along with the chance of a thunderstorm.

The rain will peter out Saturday morning, as clouds begin to clear, but Saturday's high will be a cool 21 C again, and lows could hit 8 C Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Sunday and Monday will improve the long weekend's lot, however. The Sunday forecast calls for a high of 29 C under completely sunny skies, with more sun and a high of 25 C on holiday Monday.

The heat is expected to continue into next week. Tuesday could see a high of 27 C, with highs of 30 C predicted for Wednesday and Thursday.

The normal high for this time of year is 25 C. The normal low is 13 C.
