Souris student approached by suspicious man

Souris RCMP are on alert after a suspicious encounter there by a student on Thursday.

Police say that a young student was outside near the Souris school at lunchtime when a man drove up in a white car and asked the student if they wanted a ride.

The student ran off and notified a relative as well as the school principal.

The man was described as wearing glasses and having grey hair. The car was possibly a Chevrolet. Officers weren't able to spot a vehicle matching that description anywhere nearby.

They're asking parents to remind their children to be wary of strangers and to report suspicious contact or activity immediately.

Anyone with information about this particular incident is asked to call the Souris RCMP or to contact Crime Stoppers.
