The lift came at 8:30 a.m Friday morning, a day and a half after Swan Mayor Glen MacKenzie first announced a faulty lift station was creating a serious risk of sewer backup.

The announcement came at the same time thousands of athletes and spectators were entering the town for the second phase of the 2012 Manitoba Summer Games.

With the alert came the request that residents restrict the use of running water, including use of showers and toilets. People were also notified to plug their drains.
