Stolen car lit on fire

Shortly after reporting their 2016 Toyota Corolla stolen, a Brandon resident found their vehicle extensively damaged in a rear lane, having being lit on fire.

The vehicle was reported stolen from the 100 block of Seventh Street at about 1:30 p.m. on Friday, with the complainant indicating that they’d left the vehicle unlocked, with the keys in the ignition.

In addition to calling police, the vehicle owner posted their complaint on Facebook, which resulted in someone indicating it had been seen in a rear lane between 24th and 25th Street just south of McDonald Avenue.

A police investigation is ongoing.
